I can't believe you're knitting it on straights. That must be cumbersome. (I'm so used to my interchangeable circulars that I honestly can't remember the last time I used straights for a project! Maybe three or four years ago?)
Looking good! And the yarn looks like it must be very soft. :) I like basketweave stitch. I've used it for a square of my sampler blanket, a scarf, and a couple of cushions. So I know that's a lot of knitting there in your pretty blanket! Yay for halfway! :)
