Spring Forward socks

I just finished these and thought it would be a good time to post a pic of them. :)





As you can tell, that was technically an in-progress pic, although just barely. It seems like taking good pictures of socks has its own set of issues, so I don't get too many pics of my sock projects. Wouldn't sock blockers help my photo quality, though? Indirectly, I mean, by making the socks nice and flat and shaped.

Ooh... I really like the subtle color variation in the yarn. Excellent choice. Those look like great socks.

(I also like seeing someone else who knits with DPNs. It seems like most of the sock knitters I know use two circs.)

Circs, meh. Those are for sweaters. ;) I actually used DPNs on a hat recently because I hate those miserable little 16" circ needles. Heh.

I loooooove dpns. My mom is learning how to knit with two circs, and I have a friend who does magic loop, but dpns worked for people back in the dark ages and they work for me. :D

I really love it when my bamboo DPNs start to curve a little from use. Nothing like knowing that your tools have responded to you, or something...like a symbiotic relationship? I dunno. Anyway, it makes me feel like a Real Craftsperson. :-D

I for one have a heck of a time taking decent knitting pics. I have a light box to photograph my dye work, but it's still hard to take a good photograph of a knitted item. The more I think of it, the more I want to shell out for the blasted sock-blockers already.

I snagged this icon ages ago from a community in GreatestJournal. As far as I can tell, it's just a parody of the in/famous dark and stormy night quote of Edward Bulwar-Lytton's.

Thank you! It's a really fun pattern to knit, although the pattern means you have to do some stitch-adjusting once you get to the heel and toe. It's a little narrow; I could see knitting it really firmly on size 2 rather than 1 (or on 1.5, but those are hard to find around here) or fiddling with the lace pattern a little to make it just a tiny bit larger.

Oh, I love circs for sweaters--and lace! Addi bamboos for lace, that's my thing. :-D

The yarn is Trekking, which is a little splitty when you knit it but makes a great fabric. It wears like iron and the colors, at least in this colorway, are really fast. The second pair of socks I ever made was this same yarn/colorway, and they're about 4 years old now--and still in awesome shape. I'm wearing them right now!
