Miniature sock

Miniature Dark Mark Sock.

I've been knitting a lot of these miniature socks - I'm turning them into keyrings, and a friend is taking them to Azkatraz in LA in July to sell there. Mostly in Hogwarts house colours, of course, including House Sparklypoo, but I've done some in plainer colours.

And then the other night I had A Nidea, and charted this up and knitted it. It's amazing what one can do with only 20 stitches total to work with!

Do you have other pictures of these being used on key chains? I would think about making some little gifts for friends.

Certainly! There's a picture here of the latest lot, and one of the first ten here, with another two close-ups next to it in the photostream. I have labels (the originals were Cash's name-tapes, I'm now buying from another company who are cheaper) which say 'Hand Made by Marion', and I'm using those to attach the socks to the rings.

I love the pattern, and the idea of mini socks! What size yarn and needles do you use?

These are done using ordinary DK yarn (mostly acrylic or acrylic/wool mix) and 3mm needles. I've done a couple using bits of left-over sock wool and 3mm needles, and did try one with lace-weight wool on 2mm needles, but it looked awful, so I'm just counting it as an unsuccessful experiment!

For the cuff-down version I cast on 20 stitches for DK, 24 for sock/4-ply; for toe-up I use Judy's Magic Cast-on to cast on four stitches per needle. Apart from that, I've been experimenting with different heels.
