I like to have a 'small' project on the go - something to knit on the bus, and so on. The pattern is called A Recipe for Fish, and it's very easy to make a fish - it takes me about 40 minutes to do one. I timed myself on the bus yesterday... :-}

So far I have 85, though I think I'm discarding about half a dozen of those as the yarn has knitted to a slightly different tension. I laid some out on the cutting board this afternoon and did a bit of measuring and guesstimating, and I think that for a 6 foot by 8 foot blanket, I'll need 720 of them. So I'm at 10% already, which isn't bad going for about a month's work.
I have, of course, been doing other things as well. Tonight I just finished the main body/head part of a Harry Potter doll, and cast on for an arm.
